Tips for Moving Your Cross-Dressing Stuff to a New Place
As cross-dressers, we buy a lot of stuff to aid us in our transformations. As the feminization process is complicated, we need many gadgets. The catch is that it occupies a significant amount of storage space, and transporting that stuff takes work. So what should cross-dressers do if they ever need to move their cross-dressing stuff somewhere else? I hope to answer that in this article.
Separating your items and granting them proper packaging is an excellent way to start. It’s also essential to make it look discreet and safe to relocate. This way, you may move your cross-dressing items without having to come out or damage them. If you want to know more, keep reading; I’ll explain that in detail.
1- Separate your items
The first thing you have to do is to organize everything. Sorting and separating your items according to type is the key to avoiding damaging them. It also prevents loose items from getting lost during transport. In addition to that, a well-organized assortment of cross-dressing items is easier to conceal. As such, it might blend in with your luggage, but more on that later. The point here is that you must arrange everything in a way that lets you simplify the whole process of moving them. But how do you choose the best organization? Well, let me tell you about it!
Some people like to sort their items by size when separating clothes. But for cross-dressing items, it might be better to arrange them by type and material, to avoid damage. I like to keep shapewear together, for example, as they’re more rigid and occupy a considerable space. Then I sort my clothing by material, keeping those made of delicate fabric together and setting the other stuff in a different place. Sorting them like that is helpful, as you’ll be able to fold the clothes and make them occupy less space. And if you sort them by fabric thickness and resistance, you won’t risk harming them.
But there are two things you should always separate from the rest: Your wigs and makeup supplies. Wigs need space and proper storage techniques, which I’ll mention soon enough. You have to do so to prevent them from harm, as they are delicate and expensive. On the other hand, makeup should be kept aside so it doesn’t damage your other stuff, especially fabric. I say so because I often hear people complaining about makeup stains in their clothes. Transporting things together may cause that, as makeup packaging is not failproof, and stuff may leak.
2- Arrange appropriate packaging
Now, this might be the most important part of this article. As you transport your items, you want them to be safe and sound along the path. As such, you must choose secure options for storage. You shouldn’t toss everything into a backpack. I made that mistake before, ruining a bunch of clothing. Ensure you get something big enough to fit your stuff without crumpling your clothing. A big luggage bag is the best option for your outfits, while makeup can be kept in smaller packs as long as you know how to place it inside safely. But if you need a cheaper alternative, go for cardboard boxes. Get as many as you need to accommodate the divisions you made, as suggested in the previous topic. Sort them as you will, but remember to get stiff cardboard, allowing the boxes to retain their shape if you need to pile them.
Arranging proper packaging for your outfits, shapewear, and makeup is as simple as that. But it’s a whole different challenge when it comes to wigs. As mentioned, these items are rather delicate and might get expensive depending on their quality. I’ve lost a few of them myself due to entanglement, which is more likely to happen during transportation. If you can afford a secure option, buy some wig displays and a box large enough to fit them with the wigs on. Use paper or cardboard as supports to hold everything in place and prevent movent. You may also use hairnets to cover them for extra protection, especially if you’re transporting multiple wigs.
But if you want to keep things cheaper and are willing to take a small risk, you can use a simpler technique. This one also involves hairnets and some cardboard, but these items are cheaper than large boxes and wig displays. Start by rolling some cardboard until you get a ball large enough to fill the inside of the wig. Afterward, secure the top part, including the bangs, with a hairnet. It’s better to use opaque ones for better protection. Proceed gently folding the wig until you can fit it inside a second hairnet. Repeat that procedure for all the wigs you want to store together, and store them in a box upholstered with parchment paper.
3- Making it discreet
As cross-dressers, we must understand that not all of our sisters can come out of their closets. As such, it’s comprehensible that many of us may want to transport our stuff in the most discreet way possible. This secrecy is important to some of us, so I want to focus on that in this part of the article. There are many ways to transport your cross-dressing items without making them obvious, and I’ll give you a few examples here. The best option depends on each case. But You might find some of these methods helpful, so check them out.
Cardboard Boxes
I’ve mentioned them already as a great way to sort your cross-dressing stuff by type. But since they’re cheap and don’t draw attention, they double as an effective way of increasing discretion. You can always put your stuff in large cardboard boxes without anyone batting an eye. The only problem is that they might occupy a lot of space, depending on how many items you’re moving. As such, they might not fit in your car’s trunk, requiring a truck’s aid.
Moving out at night
You can improve your discretion by moving at night. It helps you avoid a good portion of your neighbors’ curiosity. Remember that this method is more effective if you live alone, as people waiting for you at home may find it suspicious. It also works for trips in which you want to take your cross-dressing supplies with you.
Call an Uber
If someone else is helping you to move your stuff, and you’re afraid of them finding out, call an Uber. As I was leaving my last apartment, my father-in-law offered to help with the process. He’s somewhat transphobic, and I didn’t want to come out to him. So I called an uber earlier that day and asked him to take my cross-dressing stuff to a friend’s house, where I could pick them up later.
Buy discreet luggage bags
This is a simple solution, but some people may find it expensive. You can get the same kind of luggage you already use for your male clothing. The trick is to let the bags blend in as long as it’s clear that they are yours. If you’re moving with your family but didn’t come out, tell them you’ll be packing your stuff yourself. Use this as an opportunity to hide your cross-dressing stuff among your regular day clothes. As for makeup, it’s still better to use a separate cardboard box. You can put a few old magazines or books on top if someone opens them.
4- Extra tips for safe transportation
I want to give you a few extra tips to ensure the safe transportation of your cross-dressing material. Always ensure that delicate items like wigs are on top of the luggage. You don’t want it to be damaged by the weight of the other stuff. If you’re driving, do not speed; beware of holes, speed bumps, and ditches on the road. Use some tape to hold some boxes in place together, and try not to overload your car. As always, stay safe on the road, and drive with caution.
If hiring a moving company, mark the boxes containing your cross-dressing stuff as fragile. This way, they’ll be extra careful with your stuff. Another option is to leave the heavy things for them and take fragile items, such as cross-dressing garments, with you in your car. Be versatile, and adapt to the situation around you. This way, you can decide which technique better suits your goal. The important thing is not to leave behind this part of who you are.
Summary
Cross-dressers face a lot of problems when it comes to logistics. For some of us, it’s already hard to hide our feminine side, including our clothes and makeup, at home. Moving stuff to another place is even more challenging for various reasons. Not only must We preserve some delicate items throughout transportation, but sometimes hide them in plain sight as well. But as long as we learn to adapt and follow a few rules of thumb, we must be good to go. I tried it myself a few times, and despite a few complications, all went well. How about you? Do you have plans to do something like that? If you do, comment on which method you chose and how effective it was! We’re counting on your opinion.
