Lean Into Your Fashion Sense | Tips For Taller Crossdressers
As crossdressers, we are not only taller but stronger than most females. That means that the effort put in to look like a passable female needs not only to accommodate our height but also to tone down our “tough” look. What may be tailored to fit an average-sized woman might end up being an awkward fit if you’re on the taller side.
Fortunately for you, today, I’m feeling generous.
I will be sharing some of the tricks I keep up my sleeve as a tall crossdresser to look still feminine and find clothes that fit me seamlessly, from working my heels to finding the perfect accessories and balancing my looks to compliment my shape and frame.
I want you to remember before we get into this blog, though, that your height is a great advantage.
So the sooner you can figure out how to feminize your look, height, and all, the faster you’ll be able to walk tall and proud.
If you’re looking for ways to appear shorter than you are or simply how to dress to compliment your size, whatever it is, I’ve got something for you in this guide.
1. Perfect Shoes For Tall Crossdressers
Most above-average-height individuals tend to shy away from heels in fear that they’ll be towering over everyone.
When you’re tall, wearing heels only emphasizes that even more.
So, if you’re working to blend in as smoothly as possible, you might want to wear flat shoes or shorter heels.
As a tall crossdresser, finding the perfect shoes might be a little challenging; however, your height is an amazing asset, so focus on showcasing your long legs.
Pay attention to the fit and proportion, and get ready to turn heads.
There are tons of shorter shoes you can choose from.
When it comes to planning the perfect outfit, the one secret I’ll share is to get a pair of glitzy shoes to make your outfit truly pop!
From pumps to wedges and sandals, there’s a wide selection of heels that are comfortable, feminine, inexpensive, and made just for you!
Strappy sandals make your legs look great, especially in neutral colors, while short wedges can help enhance your overall silhouette by lengthening your legs.
Even if you have a pretty decent fashion sense when working with a taller frame, you’ll face a challenge that average-sized individuals don’t experience.
I’ll share a personal tip to pay close attention to the proportions and pick flattering pieces that enhance your assets.
I simply can’t emphasize the importance of finding a balance in all the pieces.
2. Cinch Your Waist
One of the most effective ways to make your height work for you is to create an hourglass figure.
You can add a corset to create the figure you want and get your waist snatched!
You can also throw in a stylish belt to achieve the same effect.
Look for a belt wide enough to pull focus and define the feminine figure you’re going for.
My personal favorites are stretch belts that are great for cinching in the middle to give your shape the perfect hourglass shape and feminine appeal you’re trying to achieve.
3. Clothing Length Matters
You can tell a lot about someone’s height by the sleeve length.
If the sleeve length is too short, try finding expert clothing with the right length or a tailor to adjust it for you.
You can check out videos to help you mend your clothes in a few easy steps.
Avoid wearing clothes that leave your ankle exposed or awkwardly end midway on your arm.
Instead, you can wear a sweatshirt that goes down to your hips to look shorter.
4. Best Jeans For Taller Bodies
If you’re picking the perfect jeans for your tall figure, skinny and slim jeans are your best friend!
You’ll look amazing in high-waisted jeans since it creates an illusion of body curves, especially if you’re using hip pads.
Slim-leg jeans look great on all body types, and high-waisted jeans tend to flatter tall people more!
It matters less if bootleg pants don’t have a longer inseam than skinny jeans because ankle grazers are in style now.
Bootleg pants have a shortened inseam that can seem shorter when you’re tall.
5. Throw in a Jacket
Consider throwing in a jacket or big shirt with the outfit that’ll cover your hips and help you look a little shorter.
A jacket or blazer will help break up the strong vertical line that many tall people worry about.
6. Neck Cut Designs
You will be able to accentuate an already long, swan-like neckline with high-cut blouses, turtlenecks, and halter designs if you are thin!
Anything that creates a vertical line, such as scoop or v-neck tops, works well.
I suggest that you get turtle neckpieces that will cover your breastplate well or tops with flattering, lavish collars.
7. Best Dresses
If you have a taller frame, then you’ll be glad to know that maxi dresses were made for you and your gloriously long legs!
An original wardrobe staple of any crossdresser, your maxi dress will effortlessly bring attention to your legs.
8. Must-Have Accessories
Accessories are a great way to direct people’s eyes towards your best features.
Go for large, statement accessories, chunky necklaces, and large clip-on earrings that look just right on taller women.
While shorter individuals may struggle to pull off bulky handbags, for example, you have the power to make it work effortlessly.
9. Balancing Your Look
While you might be tempted to throw precautions to the wind and wear whatever you want, ask yourself what matters to you whenever you want to.
As an MTF crossdresser, it’s probably important to you to be passable as a woman in public.
That means paying a little extra attention to your appearance, as women are known to do.
● Take Note of Your Proportions
For example, if you have wider shoulders, gravitate towards solid, dark colors more, as horizontal stripes will only add to your already broad shoulders.
That means the neckline on your garment is just as important as the extra trimmings that come with clothes.
Failing to balance your proportions will affect your overall look.
I’d say, if you can, have a friend come over and help you measure yourself to make sure that you have an idea of how long your limbs are, as this will save you from bad fashion decisions like awkward sleeves.
● Know Your Body Shape
When I find clothes I like, I tend to disregard what I know and end up squeezing myself into pieces several sizes mismatched.
As crossdressers, we tend to have a bigger bone structure, so we end up trying to fit into smaller-sized clothes.
However, comfortable is always best so always make sure to wear something that’s your size.
Knowing your body shape will help with this, as certain pieces are more flattering for hourglass figures than athletic ones.

A comfortable fit is enough to flatter your height and body shape.
10. Plan Your Outfit
There are reliable brands that cater to taller figures, so when you need size-fitting pieces, make sure to go there.
Remember that these rules apply to both everyday looks and night-out looks in the city.
● Daytime Looks
If you’re stepping out in the daytime, then you’ll need to wear a date-appropriate outfit that still accentuates your tall figure.
Try pairing your heel flats with a flattering dress or opt for straight-leg or skinny jeans with a cute tee and jacket, then throw a bulky bag in to accessorize.
When going out in the daytime, all I want to do is blend in so I can go about my business, so I always try to layer my looks with fashionable jackets to keep things balanced.
● Night in the City
Grab your favorite pair of heels and pair them with a gorgeous flowing dress and your dazzling make-up.
For me, if I’m in a dress, it usually goes in two ways: either it’s long enough to cover my knees in a flattering way, or it’s significantly above my knees as a mini dress.
Somehow, that always feels more natural and accentuates my height than opting for knee-length pieces.
11. Keep Your Posture Straight
Never slouch! No matter how tall you are, always hold your head up high to appear as the confident individual you are.
So remember to throw your shoulders back and take up space in whatever room you’re in.
12. Fashion Choices To Avoid
When it comes to looking more feminine, the idea is to know what works for you and what to avoid simply.
Here are some of the things I think you should steer clear of when putting your looks together:
- Pants that end in odd spots, cutting your calf midway
- Horizontal stripes that make you appear taller than you are
- Spaghetti tops that make your arms look longer and stringy
There is no universal style for dressing up, so trust your instinct and find what works for you, your body shape, personality, and lifestyle.
You don’t dress for another person, but, as the saying goes, first impressions last, so you’ll have to consider how you’ll be perceived and the impression you want people to have of you when you walk in.
For me, being honest with myself about my proportions and what looks good has helped.
When I remember to balance my outfits with the perfect accessories and favorites, I walk out confidently, feeling like I’m ready to conquer the world.
Let me know what tips you’ll be using to work your tall frames and bring out the feminine side of you!
