How to Conceal Your 5 O’clock Shadow As a Crossdresser
Today we’re going to talk about how crossdressers can conceal the 5 o’clock shadow to get a more feminine face.
As a male-to-female crossdresser, if I could ever get rid of something about myself, it surely would be my beard and facial hair.
Those are aspects that are present in the vast majority of men around the world, and it’s almost always the first thing people notice in a male crossdresser, besides the masculine jawline.
Well, you can try to hide it with makeup, but if you are not careful enough, people will see through it, mainly because of the bluish tone around the area, also known as the infamous “5 o’clock shadow”!
Getting rid of it is some sort of challenge, but those steps might assure you a clean, more feminine face, so check out this article!
1. Conceal Your 5 O’clock Shadow Preparation
Before you start to remove your facial hair, try exfoliating for about a week, after each shower.
It helps to make your skin smoother and prevents the development of ingrown hairs.
Do it for a while and you’ll notice the difference. Not only your skin will get smoother and your facial hair looser, but as a consequence, shaving will be much easier.
It’s an awesome alternative for waxing in more sensitive areas such as your face, because it doesn’t hurt your skin.
Exfoliating frequently might even make your skin stronger, so you should keep doing that even after you get rid of your facial hair (especially if you are just a casual crossdresser, and not willing to do HRT to get rid of body hair, as some trans women do).
2. Conceal Your 5 O’clock Shadow-About shaving
That’s the first step, so it’s very important, and there are some tricks to help you with it.
First of all, don’t forget to wash your face before you start, with quality soap and running water.
Then, make sure to get a sharp razor, preferably one that’s specifically made for this purpose, such as Gillette or any other shaving trademark.
Do not, by any means, use the same blade for both your face and your legs, because each part of your body requires a certain type of blade to be shaved properly.
Remember to use shaving cream to help you get a clean cut, making it easier for you to get rid of the hair while it prevents you from cutting yourself.
It’s also recommended to do that while you shower, or at least near a sink where you can occasionally wash your blade.
Make sure to clean it after every one or two strokes, so it doesn’t get inefficient.
A wet blade also cuts your facial hair better, so that’s another reason to wash it as often as possible.
Another useful tip for shaving is to keep track of your progress by looking at a mirror while you shave, so you can make sure to remove every single hair, achieving the smoothest face you can with a razor and shaving cream.
3. Post shaving
After you shave (applying shaving cream at least twice, for a cleaner effect), wash your face with warm water, and dab your face to remove the excess.
As your face might be quite sensitive by now due to the shaving, avoid rubbing it with a cloth or something like that, or otherwise you might end up hurting your skin.
After you remove the excess, wash again, but this time with cold water, so your pores can close.
Dab again to remove the excess, and let it dry for a while.
As the last step in skin care here, apply to your face some aftershave balm, so you can keep it well moisturized and healthy throughout the day.
4. Makeup tricks
Now, even after shaving, chances are that a thin bluish-gray layer (where your beard once was) will still be visible through your foundation.
There are, however, a few ways to avoid it. An efficient, nice, and easy trick is to use red lipstick to correct the color.
To do this, wash your face first, let it dry and, before applying the foundation, apply red lipstick around your five o’clock shadow, the whole area where your beard used to be.
After that, wait a couple of minutes for the lipstick to dry, and then proceed to apply the foundation as you normally would, and your five o’clock shadow will be nowhere to be seen.
Of course, the lipstick is just an introductory, more general tip, and you can do it better with an orange color corrector (especially if you have lighter skin) and a full-coverage foundation (that tends to be somewhat more expensive).
After you do that, no one will ever guess that you even had a beard to begin with!
Just make sure that, after you are done with your crossdressing session, wash well your face and exfoliate it again, so you can keep it soft and healthy and keep your skincare up to date.
