Makeup Mistakes That Will Fail You as a Femboy
Are you looking to put your best face forward and create an iconic look as a femboy? If so, then you need to be aware of the common makeup mistakes that could derail your efforts.
From improper foundation blending to choosing the wrong shades of eyeshadow, there are a number of missteps that can easily give away any novice attempting their first femboy look.
So if you want to get it right at first go, read on for some tips that will help avoid the dreaded beauty blunders and create the perfect glam tutorial!
Heavy foundation will cake and crack
I don’t particularly appreciate it when my foundation looks too heavy, and it can make me feel like I’m wearing a mask, even if it is the same color as my skin. When you’re femboying, always use a light foundation layer and gently blend it into the skin. The trick is to use a foundation brush instead of your fingers or sponge, as this will help you evenly distribute the product over your face. It also helps to check in natural daylight every time you finish your makeup, so it looks flawless.
Here are my few tips for ensuring your foundation isn’t too heavy:
- Start off with a primer and moisturizer. This will help the foundation glide on your skin rather than the cake on top of it.
- Use a thin layer of foundation and blend well into the skin with a brush or damp beauty blender.
- Use setting powder to set your foundation and keep it in place.
- Don’t forget to give yourself a little highlight with a powder or cream highlighter. This will give your face a glow and brighten it up.
Overdrawn eyebrows that don’t look natural
Eyebrows are the most essential feature of your face and can make or break your femboying look. You want to ensure your eyebrows are shaped and groomed in a natural way. To do this, you should always use an eyebrow pencil or powder that complements the color of your brows and lightly fill them in with feather-like motions. The best thing to do is start light and gradually build the color until you get the desired shape.
The main mistake many femboys make with their eyebrows is completely overdoing them. This can result in eyebrows that look too dark, heavy, and unnatural. If you struggle with doing your eyebrows, I suggest trying a brow stencil to get the perfect shape. You can also use a clear eyebrow gel to set your brows in place and make them look polished.
Incorrect powder usage
The next mistake we femboys should avoid making is not using powder correctly. Powder helps to mattify and set your makeup in place, so you want to ensure you use it properly! The best way to apply powder is to press it onto your skin with a puff or brush and lightly pat it in. You don’t want to swipe the powder across your face, as this can leave you with an uneven finish. Also, try not to use too much powder – if you overapply, you’ll look cakey and patchy.
Neglecting blush and contour
The last makeup mistake we femboys should avoid is neglecting to use blush and contour. Blush and contour are essential for creating a beautiful, glowing complexion – and they can help bring your overall look together! When applying blush, blend it into the cheekbones and use a shade that complements your skin tone. As for contour, stick with a formula that’s light and easy to blend – too dark, and you could look muddy. Make sure to use a brush or sponge to blend the product into your skin for a naturally sculpted look.
I like to finish off my makeup look with a bit of bronzer to add warmth and definition to my face – it’s a subtle way to add dimension and make your makeup look complete.
Eyeshadow that is too dark or too light will make you look like a clown
Most of the femboys I have interacted with are usually afraid to use eyeshadow because they think it will make them look like clowns. As long as you use the right shade and technique, eyeshadow can be a great way to enhance your look.
When it comes to eyeshadow, the key is to find a shade that matches your skin tone. Too light and you’ll look washed out; too dark and appear too harsh. So, stick with a shade one or two darker than your skin tone.
You can also experiment with different finishes and textures – shimmer, glitter, and matte all look great on the eyes. Just remember to blend and shade your colours together, so they don’t appear too harsh or dramatic. And don’t forget to use a good eyeshadow primer beforehand – this will help your makeup stay in place all day long!
Unnatural colors, like hot pink blush, will clash with your skin tone
We femboys love to be bold and daring with our makeup, but sometimes we can get a bit too crazy. Picking colors that are too unnatural or clash with your skin tone can result in an unflattering look – so it’s essential to stick with shades that complement your complexion.
For example, hot pink blush may look great on some femboys, but it could make you look washed out if you have pale skin. Similarly, some eye shadow colors can make your eyes appear too small or too large. So, it’s best to be mindful of your skin tone and pick colors that will look great on you.
Not blending your makeup properly will give you an unfinished look
We femboys should blend our makeup properly for a flawless finish. This means buffing and blending your foundation, concealer, and powder into your skin. If you don’t take the time to do this, your makeup will look patchy and unfinished – not the look we’re aiming for!
For the best results, use a good-quality foundation brush or sponge to buff out any harsh lines. This will help you create a smooth and even canvas and ensure that your makeup stays in place all day. Additionally, use a damp beauty blender to blend out any harsh lines around the eyes or nose – this will help you create an airbrushed effect.
Wrong lipstick color for your skin tone can wash you out or make you look older than you are
A wrong lipstick may also ruin your look as a femboy. When it comes to lipstick, the most important thing is finding the right shade for your skin tone. If you pick a shade that’s too light, it can make you look washed out and older than you are. On the other hand, if you go for a shade that’s too dark, it can be unflattering and make your teeth appear yellowish.
So, stick with colors one or two tones darker than your natural lip color. And if in doubt, go for a nude or pink shade – these are universally flattering and will look great on any skin tone!
As a black femboy, I also find that brown lipsticks look great on me – they add warmth to my complexion and make my lips appear fuller.
Summary
We femboys have an advantage in makeup – our looks can be bold and creative without worrying about looking too over the top or clownish. But we still have to pay attention to the details and pick colors suitable for our skin tone. That way, we can create a beautiful and fashionable look. So, don’t be fearful to experiment with different shades and finishes – just keep in mind that proper blending is critical for flawless looks!
